Wednesday 23 May, saw a fabulous opportunity for staff and clients to come together for a 6-Aside football tournament organised by Homeless Link at Leatherhead Football Club.

The tournament, part of the Sports for All and Get Creative initiatives was organised by Homeless Link and included teams from a range of services for homeless people from all over the south, including services from Guildford, Portsmouth, Canterbury, Basingstoke and Oxford.

“We put together a great team,” said Ingrid Wright, Manager of May Place House and Basingstoke SAiL, “we had clients from our Penn House service and May Place House.  We also had John McGarvey, one of our staff, join the team to add his unique footballing skills.”

Teaming up with Radio

Posted by Nick on May 11, 2012

It’s been a productive couple of weeks and we’re really getting to grips with telling people about what we do and some of the amazing things our staff get up to.  In addition to the ‘everyday’ stuff they do (which is pretty amazing), we’ve had staff represent the organisation at the Stonewall Equality March in Brighton, run some exciting recruitment oppportunities and launch our Smart Living service on the Isle of Wight.

We’ve also been thinking about how to blog, tweet, use Facebook and engage with and expand our Social Media presence … exciting stuff!

To top it off, we’ve linked in with local social enterprise, Express fm and with southern radio station, Wave105 fm.  We even had Charlotte from Wave pop in yesterday to interview Nicki (she’s the one in the photo on the left!) about the great debt and welfare benefits work going on with Advice Portsmouth … why not check out her interview?  Click here and you can listen to what she had to say!…
