Wednesday 23 May, saw a fabulous opportunity for staff and clients to come together for a 6-Aside football tournament organised by Homeless Link at Leatherhead Football Club.
The tournament, part of the Sports for All and Get Creative initiatives was organised by Homeless Link and included teams from a range of services for homeless people from all over the south, including services from Guildford, Portsmouth, Canterbury, Basingstoke and Oxford.
“We put together a great team,” said Ingrid Wright, Manager of May Place House and Basingstoke SAiL, “we had clients from our Penn House service and May Place House. We also had John McGarvey, one of our staff, join the team to add his unique footballing skills.”
In addition, the tournament also provided an opportunity for staff and other clients to attend the tournament to cheer on the YOU Team.
“We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome,” said John McGarvey, “the Leatherhead homeless service who hosted the event were excellent, providing a warm welcome and great refreshments throughout the day.
