Tuesday 8th November marks the launch of the 2011 Business in the Community Christmas Gift Appeal in Hampshire. The appeal will support local charities Two Saints and YOU, which amongst the services they offer are hostels for the local homeless. Employees of businesses which register will be encouraged to donate everyday commodities including food and toiletries to help a homeless person this Christmas.
Items welcome include dried fruit, tinned food, savoury items and toiletries. This provides a perfect opportunity to put that buy one get one free item to good use.
Pat Smith, Area Manager Hampshire, Business in the Community said ‘Our aim is to support those ready to move on from the local hostels into independent living accommodation. Your donations will provide support packs to help them in their transition.’
“Just to know that people are thinking about them can make such a difference,” says YOU Chief Executive, Nicola Youern, “it may not seem much to you or me but for some people who otherwise wouldn’t get a present at Christmas, something to open can really help boost confidence and let that person know that they aren’t alone. Your gift and support is really appreciated.”
