A glittering start to the year for Hampshire charity, YOU, has seen four award wins for the third sector organisation topped off by the highest ‘Gold’ accreditation from Investors in People. Investors in People, commonly referred to as IiP, review commitment to learning and development and help companies develop and follow best management practice by engaging and empowering their staff.
“Learning and Development is at the core of what we do,” says Learning and Leadership Manager, Steven Embleton. “We believe our clients will receive the best service if our staff are skilled in their work and our managers are the best they can be. This is our 13th year with IiP recognition but to now receive Gold accreditation is a fantastic achievement. As a company believing in continuous improvement, Gold was the standard we went for … and got! It reflects our company’s ethos of striving for excellence.”
To scoop the top accreditation, YOU had to demonstrate exceptional working practices in areas such as learning and development, people management, leadership, staff involvement and empowerment, staff recognition and reward, and continuous improvement. Being subject to a rigorous inspection procedure that included interviews with a large number of staff at all levels …
YOU knows that investing in its staff is key to running an excellent, person centred and ‘can do’ organisation and we know that it’s important to recognise and acknowledge the excellence and achievement of our staff.
But it’s more than just talking about it all. To acknowledge these achievements, YOU hosts an annual awards ceremony to say ‘well done’ to everybody who has worked hard to achieve a qualification.
“We’re really proud of our staff,” says Director of People and Learning, Liz Page, “and celebrating the hard work of 60 people is just amazing. It’s so important to recognise and acknowledge the dedication and commitment of our staff to having the skills and knowledge to provide the very best services we can.”
Over the last 18 months, YOU has supported 60 people through a variety of qualifications including NVQs, Advanced Diplomas and in house development programmes. On the 18 March, at the Portsmouth Guildhall, YOU hosted the second year of the qualification awards ceremony.
